Cooler Weather Has Fall Trips Booking Fast
As we begin closing another chapter on the season we call summer, the cooler crisp nights and early mornings have the trout eager to sip a locally tied October Caddis or stone fly pattern making our hearts race with anticipation wondering if this is the large Brown Trout that has eluded us all summer. Mother Nature has began painting on some of her leaves leading us to believe that fall is only weeks away. With the onset of cooler nights one can only anticipate wading or drifting their favorite river or stream while wearing our favorite jacket as the frost on the pumpkin glistens in the early morning sunlight.
Turning the calendar page to October signals changes for many anglers who live here or travel to the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains. October 1st is the start of the Delayed Harvest Season with stocking dates taking place the first two weeks of the month in the most popular areas. Fall can be some of the best fly fishing in the wild streams as fish are taking advantage of the cooler water temperatures. It is not uncommon for anglers to land some real nicely colored Brown Trout as they aggressively feed on a well drifted fly or streamer as Bull Elk bugles in the distance.
We know that many are looking forward to experiencing fall fishing in the picturesque mountains based on the high volume of advanced bookings we have received for October and November. We highly recommend that if you want to book a trip that you do it now!
