Mid-November Fishing Report

Delayed Harvest stocking has happened where practical. Since the "storm", as we call it, came through, it pained me to drive South and North River Roads along the Jackson County Tuckaseegee DH. It should have been busy with folks enjoying their time netting fish. I tried to avoid the roads like the plague as it was a reminder of the on going disaster the storm caused. But now it has been stocked and the anglers have returned and so have thier smiles! It really does bring me joy when I see folks from all walks of life enjoying our outdoor play ground.

Tuckaseegee Delayed Harvest Waters

Brook trout rainbows and browns, oh my! A lot of brook trout were stocked in the Jackson County section of the Tuck and they are looking up and chasing aggressively. Chubby Chernobyls fished as indicators with a flashy nymph dropped about 18" will give way to opportunities for top-water eats as well as sub-surface. White wooly buggers and white mop flies fished as streamers will encourage a nice agressive bite as well.

West Fork of the Pigeon

Some things are certain in life...Death, Taxes, and not fishing alone on the West Fork! This is one of the most beautiful DH's in the program in my opinion. But the ease of access and relative location to Asheville, bring loads of folks, especially in the mornings. The afternoons usually present the best options for peace and solitude. Euro- Nymphing with egg pattersn, san juan worms and squirmies will produce good numbers. The best fun will be had fishing large dry flies, even terrestials with nymphs dropped on 6x tippet.

See the above report and insert Georgia for Asheville...

Great Smokies and Wild Trout Waters

We have been blessed with a warm November so far. Once I hit publish on this report, I know I will have jinxed it! But for now we will enjoy the mild temps that remind us of October action. Still fishing large dry flies with orange colors. Many times not even bothering to drop a nymph because they just want the meatier snack. So start with an Orange Stimulator, October Caddis, or Parachute Adams and go from there. Size down on the tippet as the Park water experienced heavy fishing pressure until the DH was stocked so the fish are spooky.
